The Samyukta Madhesi Morcha organised a protest programme against the agreement on state demarcation forged among four major political parties on Saturday night. The Madhesi people obstructed vehicular movement for an hour and also burned an effigy of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
The Morcha’s cadres chanted slogans against the leaders signing the agreement. They warned of resorting to stern protests saying the four-party pact on state demarcation is unacceptable to them.
Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum’s District Chair Shesh Narayan Yadav accused the four big parties of playing with the identity of Madhes and Madhesi people. “Four parties have demonstrated their authoritarian characteristic by dividing Madhe land into different sections. We are not ready to accept this,” said Yadav.
Likewise, Sanjay Singh of Sadbahwana Party said no one has the right to divide the Madhes land and warned of resorting to stronger form of protest.
