The indefinite strike called for by Madhesi alliance, Tharu Struggle Committee and Kochila Struggle, Committee in the Terai region has only minimally affected normal life in Jhapa district. In Birtamod locals have demonstrated against the Bandh. Tired with the continuous series of bandhs shopkeepers have opened shops defying the bandh and local market is in full operation although the market in Birtamod opened slightly late due to the announcement of the bandh. Young entrepreneurs in Birtamod took out rally carrying national flag and chanting slogans against Bandh. In a corner meet speakers urged all protesters to find another alternative to Bandh that affects common citizen's normal lives. District headquarter Chandragadhi, eastern border in Kakadbhitta and Damak are reported to be open since the morning.
