One protester has been killed and scores others including security personnel have been injured in clashes that have erupted in different parts of Birjung on Monday. A protester, who appears to be in his 20s, was killed after police opened fire during the clash at Shankaracharya Gate near Birgunj Customs.
Similarly, five protesters were injured after police fired rubber bullets to maintain order during the clashes. The injured are Bhulan Shraff, Shivaji Sha, Rahul Das, Ramraj Mukhiya. Identification of one protester is yet to be ascertained. Bhulan has sustained bullet injuries in his back and leg, Shivaji in the head, Ramraj in leg and Rahul in hand. All the injured are being treated at Narayani Sub Regional Hospital, Birgunj. Likewise, Ravi Yadav, Rakesh Gupta among others have been injured in baton charge by police. Eight cops of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have also sustained injuries after agitators hurled stones at the law enforcement agency.
