Ambulance drivers in the eastern region of the country have halted their services citing insecurity from Monday. As a result, problem in transporting seriously ill patients who have been referred to Biratnagar among other areas has surfaced. Patients coming from remote areas for treatment are also facing problem in reaching hospitals due to the halt in ambulance services. Ambulance Driver Association Secretary Chandra Parajuli informed that they had to halt the ambulance services due to insecurity as ambulance and its drivers were targeted by the protesters at various places. Parajuli further said that they will resume the services only if the local administration guarantees their safety and the agitation parties assure them of not vandalising and attacking the ambulances.
