2016-04-19

Gandaki, Baglung, Nisikhola

Locals have obstructed 7 officials of the Nepal Army, including a colonel and other officers at Bobang VDC on their way to Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. After being informed that NA Colonel Krishna Raj Acharya and other officers were on their way to the hunting reserve, the locals placed obstructions on the road and stopped them. The army was allowed to enter the reserve only after they convinced the locals that they had come to the reserve to only inspect and that they would return back at 2 pm. In a discussion held between the NA officials and the locals, the NA officials stated that they were obliged to set up camp at the hunting reserve as ordered by the Government, but the locals demanded that there was no necessity for Army presence in the reserve. They also demanded the hunting reserve to be handed over to the local community.
