Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

A complaint was lodged at National Information Commission on Tuesday seeking information regarding property details of Lokman Singh Karki—chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Anti-corruption campaigner Suman Shrestha registered the complaint saying that anti-corruption watchdog should itself be transparent and accountable.

Earlier, anticorruption activist Shrestha had submitted three applications at the CIAA itself seeking property details of the CIAA chief be made public. The mystery surrounded after CIAA failed to address any of his demands.

Moreover, campaigner Shrestha is stunned by CIAA’s unilateral move to intrude into the medical education sector in a unilateral manner, according to a statement issued by Anticorruption Movement Nepal. “If the ignorance shown by CIAA chief Karki against the governance of law is not supervised from civilian and parliamentary level, it would give hype to Karki’s monopoly instead of discouraging corruption,” activist Shrestha expressed his concern. Shrestha further remarked that unless Karki declares his property details publicly, official decisions taken by the CIAA chief will remain a question.
