[Updated] A 46-year-old victim woman of attempted rape said that police have denied to register her case of attempted rape and compelled her to make an agreement. She said that the police compelled her to agree by signing the awareness letter after taking her in custody for 24 hours on June 26. The victim had gone to the police office to lodge a complaint against Dharmachadra Mandal,50 of Pokhariya accusing him of attempting to rape her on June 22.
The police had arrested the accused and sent him to Area Police Office of Rangeli on the same day. The local media personnel said that the accused was freed on the same day by police after a tremendous pressure exerted from locals to solve the problem within the village. The victim woman was taken into custody by the police as a result of tremendous pressure from the villagers according to the media person Kamal Rimal. SP Sandeep Bhandary of DPO Morang said that the incident such as rape and attempted rape cannot be agreed. He further said that he will precede the case after getting information.
