The victim’s family of 20-years-old Seti Pariyar of Kupinde VDC-5 have revealed on July 20 that she was fed with human excrete alleging of being a witch and beaten by Christian priest Paul aka Dallu Sunar,65 of Kupinde VDC-4. The victim went to the Church on June 5 believing that her stomach ailment will be recovered. The priest fed her with human excrete and beaten her as part of spiritual treatment. The incident was revealed after the victim’s condition worsens and the family members informed about the incident to the human rights activists on July 20. The family said that they are preparing to lodge a complaint at DPO. The victim’s father said that her health condition and mental state worsen after she was fed with human excrete. She sustained bruises over her body while doing spiritual treatment by the priest on the charges of being a witch. The victim underwent medical treatment at Kantipur medical college at Shrinagar and taken to Nepalgunj for further treatment according to the family.
(Update)...Police in Salyan has arrested five people on the charges of force-feeding human faeces to a woman and lashing her with stinging nettle in the name of curing her stomach-ache that they claimed was caused by witch’s curse. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri on Thursday said they have rounded up five suspects for subjecting the 20-year-old woman to inhumane treatment at Kupende VDC-4. The incident that allegedly took place one and a half months ago was reported to police only on Thursday. The woman’s husband apparently decided to register a police case after his wife started developing health complications.
