The paternal party of Najma Khatun, 28 of Lumbini Municipality-4 have accused that she was murdered by her family on September 6 over a dowry dispute. The victim’s brother Badare Alam said that his sister was being tortured mentally and physically by her husband on charge of not able to bring four wheel car in a dowry. He further accused her family members of murdering her as they were conducting final rites of the victim in hurry. Deceased Khatun returned to her home some time back from her paternal home. She was living in her paternal home for six months after being tortured by her family members in a daily basis. Police had initiated the investigation of the incident after finding suspicious about the death. The body of the victim was sent for postmortem at Bhim Hospital at Bhairahawa after police found several bruises over her body according to SP Buddhi Raj Gurung. Inspector Dilip Raj Jha of Area Police Office of Lumbini said that victim’s husband Ehasanullah Musalman and brother in-law Tabarak Musalman are at large. The victim has two sons.
