The victim’s brother Triveni Mahato has accused Police of Bathnaha post for torturing his brother Ganga Mahato,45 of Bathnaha VDC-4 on November 8. He said that he was severely beaten by the police while he was in custody. The victim was taken to Sitamadi of India on November 9 for the treatment according to his brother. The victim’s party claimed that he was severely tortured by the police on charge of using a foul language in an inebriated state over a dispute of property. The victim sustained several bruises over his body. He was taken to Jaleshwor hospital and was referred to India after he could not be treated. The Human Rights Coalition of the district have drawn the attention regarding the incident and demanded for the truth. Inspector Govinda Khanal of District Police Office said that police in charge ASI Shambhu Prasad Shah and his team has been summoned to the office for interrogation. बथनाहा गाविस-४ का ४५ वर्षीय गङ्गा महतोलाई कात्तिक २३ गते दिउँसो प्रहरीले नियन्त्रणमा बथनाहा प्रहरी चौकीमा मरणासन्न हुने गरी यातना दिएको पीडितका भाइ त्रिवेणी महतोले आरोप लगाएका छन् । पीडित महतोलाई उपचारका लागि कात्तिक २४ गते बिहान भारतको सितामढी लगिएको उनका भाइले आफन्तले जनाएका छन् । आर्थिक लेनदेनको विषयमा मुद्दा चलिरहेको बेला पीडित महतोले मदिरा सेवन गरी सार्वजनिक रूपमा विपक्षीहरूलाई गालीगलौज गरेको आरोपमा प्रहरीमा दिएको उजुरीका आधारमा प्रहरीले यातना दिएको पीडित पक्षको आरोप छ । कुटपिटबाट पीडितको पिठ्युँ, तिघ्रा र पैतालालगायतका शरीरका विभिन्न अङ्गमा निलडाम भएको छ । जलेश्वर अस्पतालमा उपचार सम्भव नदेखिएपछि जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय महोत्तरीको पहलमा थप उपचारको लागि भारत लगिएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ । मानव अधिकार रक्षक सञ्जाल महोत्तरीले घटनाका विषयमा ध्यानाकर्षण भएको जनाउँदै घटना हुनुको कारण खोजी गरी दोषीलाई कारबाहीको दायरामा ल्याउनु पर्ने माग गरेको छ । प्रहरीले घटनाको छानबिन गरी दोषीलाई कारबाही गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता जनाएको छ । बथनाहा प्रहरी चौकीका इञ्चार्ज असई शम्भुप्रसाद साह र उनको टोलीलाई घटनाबारे सोधपुछ गर्न जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालयमा झिकाइएको जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय महोत्तरीका इन्स्पेक्टर गोबिन्द खनालले बताएका छन् ।
