Two persons were arrested in possession of various weapons, on Sunday.
The arrestees have been identified as Vedan Raj Thapa and his brother, Kamal Raj Thapa, of Gajryangkot-8, informed DSP Guru Bishnu Kafle of the Jumla District Police Office.
Vedan Raj was arrested from Kathmandu based on a tip-off while Kamal Raj was arrested from Nepalgunj.
Police confiscated weapons including two BN 6465-2967 sub automatic SLR, Indian Army Code no 1000 C Plus LST 1.65 MN automatic pistol, an automatic pistol, a five-bullet revolver, a six-bullet revolver, two pistols, seven detonators, and bullets.
In an extensive search for 21 statues stolen from the Chandannath Baba’s temple on November 26, police came across the hi-end automatic weapons from various locations of the district.
The weapons could have been stolen during the armed insurgency, police added. They were made public in the district on Monday.
