29-year-old Deepak Mahara of Chandra Ayodhyapur-4 and 18-year-old Asha Mahara of Chandra Ayodhyapur-4 have been sentenced to one-year imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 each by the district court on February 20. A bench of Justice Rajendra Prasad Adhikari pronounced the verdict. 25-year-old Rita Mahara of Golbazar Municipality-4 had lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Mircheya on December 9 alleging that the accused had committed polygamy. The Area Police Office Mirchaiya had arrested the accused on the same day. Deepak Mahara and Asha were released on bail of Rs 35,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively on December 23.
