Locals agitated in Bardiya after the death a youth from the tusker attack. They have halted East West Mahendra Highway,demanding revocation of Bardiya National Park. 18-year-old Bijaya Nepal was killed while villagers were trying to chase away a herd of wild elephants that entered a human settlement in Karmala of Babai Municipality-3 in Bardiya, on Tuesday. They demanded for the revocation of Bardiya National Park and Buffer Zone. The villagers were trying to chase away the elephants when 18-year-old Bijaya Nepali aka Amrit was killed in an elephant attack, informed Bardiya National Park . The BNP had fenced the periphery of the forest areas with electric wire, but it has not been effective in saving the villagers from sporadic skirmishes with the wild animals. He said. "We have asked for a team from Kathmandu for the identification of the elephant and will take the attacking elephant under control". The park is providing half a million, and Buffer Zone Management Committee NPR 30,000 for death ritual to the deceased's family. Every year locals are bearing great loss of live and property from the tusker attack. Locals of Buffer Zone have demanded for taking the tusker under control. जंगली हात्तीले आक्रमण गर्दा बर्दियामा एकजना युवकको ज्यान गए पछि आक्रोषित स्थानियहरु आन्दोलित भएका छन् । उनीहरुले बर्दिया राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्ज तथा मध्यवर्ती क्षेत्र खारेजीको मागसमेत गरेका छन् । गाउँमा जंगली हात्ती आएपछि धपाउने क्रममा हात्तीले आक्रमण गर्दा बबई नगरपालिका वार्ड नम्वर ३ निवासी कर्मला गाउँका १८ बर्षिय युवक अर्जुन भनिने विजय नेपालीको ज्यान गएको छ । रातीको समयमा गाउँमा हात्ती आएपछि धपाउने क्रममा हात्तीले लखेटेर आक्रमण गर्दा युवकको मृत्यु भएको बर्दिया राष्ट्रिय निकुञ्जका सहायक संरक्षण अधिकृत अशोक भण्डारीले बताए । उनले भने नयाँ तारवार भएकै ठाउँबाट तोडेर हात्ती निस्किएकाले समस्या भएको हो । ‘हात्ती पहिचान गर्ने टोली काठमाडांैबाट मगाएका छौं, उनले भने–‘आक्रामक हात्ती नियन्त्रण गर्छौ’ उनले भने । निकुञ्जले पीडितका परिवारलाई तत्काल ५ लाख रुपैया उपलब्ध गराउने भएको छ । त्यस्तै मध्यवर्ती क्षेत्र व्यवस्थापन समितिले क्रियाखर्च वापत ३० हजार रुपैयाँ दिने भएको छछ । त्यस क्षेत्रमा बर्षेनी हात्तीले आतंक मच्चाउँदा व्यापक धनजनको क्षती स्थानियले व्यहोर्दै आएका छन् । जंगली हात्ती नियन्त्रण गर्न मध्यवर्ती क्षेत्रका स्थानियहरुले माग गरेका छन् । आक्रोशित स्थानीयले पूर्व पश्चिम महेन्द्र राजमार्गमा अवरोध गरेका छन् । स्थानीयले नारावाजी गर्दै निकुञ्ज तथा मध्यवर्ती क्षेत्र खारेजीको माग गरेका छन् ।
