Sit-in protest demanding Dhankuta as Province-1 capital

A sit-in protest was organised near the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today calling to make Dhankuta the capital of Province-1. Province Assembly members from Dhankuta, businessmen and civil society leaders had staged the sit-in from 8:30 to 11:00 this morning. “Dhankuta is appropriate to be made the capital of the province on the basis of its geography and infrastructures,” they said. On the occasion, members of Provincial Assemblies including Indramani Parajuli, Kusum Shrestha, Leela Shrestha and Dhankuta Chairperson of Civil Society Dorna Guragain among others had staged the protest. Meanwhile, the signatures collected by the ‘Make Dhankuta Province Capital Campaign’ will be submitted to the Prime Minister on Tuesday. धनकुटालाई प्रदेश नं १ को राजधानी बनाउनुपर्ने माग गर्दै बालुवाटारस्थित प्रधानमन्त्री कार्यालय नजिकै धर्ना दिइएको छ । भूगोल र संरचनागत हिसाबले राजधानीका लागि धनकुटा उपयुक्त हुने भन्दै धनकुटाका प्रदेश सांसद, नागरिक अगुवा र व्यवसायीलगायतले आज बिहान ८ः३० देखि ११ बजेसम्म धर्ना दिएका हुन् । सोही अवसरमा प्रदेशसभा सांसदहरू इन्द्रमणि पराजुली, कुसुम श्रेष्ठ, लीला श्रेष्ठ, प्रदेश राजधानी बनाउ अभियानका संयोजक उमेश घिमिरे र नागरिक समाज धनकुटाका अध्यक्ष द्रोण गुरागार्इंलगायतले राजधानी बनाउँदा सबैका लागि उपयुक्त हुने भन्दै धनकुटालाई नै राजधानी बनाउनुपर्ने माग गरे । प्रदेश राजधानी बनाउ अभियानले धनकुटालाई प्रदेश राजधानी बनाउन माग गर्दै संकलन गरेको हस्ताक्षर मंगलबार प्रधानमन्त्रीलाई बुझाउने भएको छ ।
