The mother of a 16 years old girl who was torched alive while asleep has accused the police of not making efforts to nab and punish the culprits involved in her daughter's murder. On June 24, Samikshya Thakuri, 16 of Kanchan Rural Municipality-5, Piparichampa was doused with kerosene and burned alive in her bedroom. On July 4, the victim succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. Maya Thapa Thakuri, the mother of the deceased, filed a complaint at the Area Police Office (APO), Saljhundi on Friday, accusing the husband of the deceased, Tej Bahadur Thakuri, mother-in-law Harikala Thakuri and sisters-in law Madhu and Amrita of the murder. Maya's brother Bom Darlami stated that police have been neglecting their case from the very beginning despite being given a list of the suspects. He said that they reached APO, Rudrapur and Butwal two days after the incident but the police refused to file the complaint. "At first we prioritized her treatment more than anything but I had sent my son to the police for filing a complaint," said Bom, adding, "My sister was told that her complaint has been filed at Butwal APO but when I went later, they told that the complaint was actually not registered." Even after agreeing to register the complaint on Friday, police are yet to take the suspects into judicial custody which has irked the victim's family. Dipesh Bashyal, police inspector of APO, Saljhundi, said that the suspects mentioned in the complaint are under police investigation but they have not been booked as they are less likely to escape. The deceased was a 10th grader at Peace Land Bhupu Sainik Public School. It had been a year since Samikshya had started living in the house of her father. After being ill-treated by the family members, Samikshya who had gone for an inter-caste marriage started living at her parents' home since her pregnancy. According to Bom, Samikshya who lived at her maternal home since childhood insisted on going to her father's house and fighting for her mother's rights. Bom claims that Samikshya was killed by her family members due to the fear of giving her family property. He further said that Samikshya had filed a police complaint earlier as well after being beaten by the family members. Police agree that the nature of the crime is serious but it needs further investigation. "We cannot just arrest the suspects on the basis of the complaint. We will first have to find more details regarding the incident," said Shyam Gyawali, chief of Rupandehi Police. गत असार ९ गते राति सुतिरहेको समयमा जलेकी कञ्चन गाउँपालिका–५ की १६ वर्षीया समीक्षा ठकुरीको मृत्युपछि प्रहरीमा किटानी जाहेरी गरिएको छ । उनकै हजुरआमाले मट्टितेल खन्याएर आगो लगाइदिएको आरोपसहित किटानी दिइएको हो । असार ९ गते राति ३ बजेतिर उनीमाथि आगो लागेको थियो । अनुहारभन्दा तल कम्मरभन्दा माथि जलिरहेको समयमा चिच्याउँदै धारामा पानी खन्याउन पुगेकी उनी सख्त घाइते भएकी थिइन् । उनको स्तनसहित पेट, छाती र पाखुरा जलेका थिए । अर्धचेत अवस्थामा रहेकी उनलाई छिमेकीको सहयोगमा लुम्बिनी अञ्चल अस्पतालमा उपचारका लागि ल्याएको थियो । अस्पतलले उपचार गर्न नसकिने भन्दै पाल्पा मिसनमा रिफर ग¥यो । मिसनले दुई दिनपछि काठमाडौं रिफर गरेएकी समीक्षाको कीर्तिपुर अस्पतालमा २० गते मृत्यु भएको थियो । परिवारका अन्य सदस्यले कोठामा आगो लागेर उनी जलेको बताउँदै आएका छन् । तर घाइते समीक्षाले सानीआमासँग हजुरआमाले मट्टितेल खन्याएको बताइएको दाबी गरिएको छ । घटनाको प्रकृतिले समेत आगो लगाइएको संकेत गरेको प्रहरीको भनाइ छ । समीक्षाका बाबुले सौतनी आमा भिœयाएपछि उनी मावलीघर बस्दै आएकी थिइन् । झण्डै १५ वर्षपछि गत तिहारदेखि घर बस्न थालेकी उनीमाथि सौतेनी आमा, हजुरआमा र हजुरबुवाले यातना दिँदै आएका छिमेकीले बताएका छन् । उनका बुवा ड्राइभर हुन् । घटनाको दिन समीक्षाले इराकमा रहेकी आमा मीनासँग आफूलाई मार्ने तयारी गरेको भन्दै सुनाएको बताइएको छ । ‘मलाई फोन गरेर मार्न खोजेका छन् भनेकी थिई, मैले रातिको समयमा कता जा भन्नू, आमा मीनाले भनिन् । उनी घटनापछि नेपाल फर्किएकी छन् । समीक्षाले आफ्नी आमामाथि अन्याय भएको भन्दै आवाज उठाउँदै आएकी थिइन् । यो कुरा परिवारका अन्य सदस्यलाई चित्त बुझेको थिएन । कक्षा १० पढ्दै गरेकी समीक्षाले नागरिकता बनाइदिन आग्रह गरेपछि उनीहरूको आक्रोश बढेको थियो । त्यही रिसमा ‘हत्या’का लागि मट्टितेल छर्किएर जलाउने प्रयास भएको आमा मीनाले आरोप लगाइन् । घटनाको किटानीपछि इलाका प्रहरी कार्यालय सालझण्डी र बुटवलले अनुसन्धान थालेका छन् । मृत्यु नहुँदासम्म यो घटना सार्वजनिक गरिएको थिएन । प्रहरीले सामान्य आगलागीको मुचुल्का उठाएर बसेको थियो । इलाका प्रहरी कार्यालय बुटवलका प्रमुख डिलबहादुर मल्लले घटना शंकास्पद रहेको भन्दै अनुसन्धान गरिएको बताए ।
