An 8-year-old girl was raped at Safebagar Municipality in Achham district. According to the victim’s family, Rewanta Das, 21, of Devisthan of Safebagar Municipality-11 raped the girl on July 4 while she was alone at her home with her 2-year-old sister. “I was in home with my sister. He lured me into the act and also threatened not to tell anybody after the incident,” said victim in the police statement. The victim’s father is working in India. Police said the victim’s mother only lodged a rape complaint at the police office on July 12. “I could not lodge the complaint earlier because of threat,” she said. The victim’s family has demanded immediate arrest and persecution of the perpetrator. Police said Rwanta’s family went to India after the incident. “We have been searching for the culprit by circulating his sketch to police stations across Nepal. We have also requested Indian officials to coordinate a search operation in India,” said DSP Tandukar. The victim has been undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Meanwhile, women activists in Achham have demanded immediate arrest of the guilty and strong action against him. Woman activist Pashupati Kunwar said they would stage demonstrations until the guilty is arrested. “We have been pressuring the local administration to arrest and make public the culprit soon,” she said. अछामको साँफेबगर नगरपालिका–११ देवीस्थानका २१ वर्षिय रेवन्त दासले ८ वर्षिया वालिकालाई पानी माग्ने निहुँमा बलात्कार गरेका छन्। बालिकाका आफन्त रोपाइ गर्न गएको मौका छोपी दासले असार २० गते बलात्कार गरेको पीडित परिवारले जानकारी दिएको छ। ‘घरमा बहिनीलाई हेरालो बसेकी थिएँ, आएर पानी देउन भने,त्यसपछि घर भित्र जाऊँ भने म जान मानिनँ। जबरजस्ती तानेर घरको माथिल्लो तलामा लगेका हुन्,’ पीडित बालिकाले भनिन्।’ बलात्कारको आरोप लागेका रेवन्तसहितको परिवार भागेर भारत गएको बताइएको छ। अछामका प्रहरीका इन्सपेक्टर टेकवहादुर रावतले भने ‘घटनाको उजुरी ढिलो गरी आउँदा पीडकलाई पक्राउ गर्न गाह्रो भईरहेको छ, ‘हामीले आरोपीको हुलियासहित प्रहरीका सवै युनिट तथा देशभरका जिल्ला कार्यालयहरुमा खोजीको लागि जानकारी गराएर खोजी गरिरहेका छौँ, भारतमा भएपनि थप प्रक्रियामा जानेछौँ।’ भारतमा रहेका बालिकाका बुवा र बाजुरामा रहेका ठूलो बुवाको सल्लाहमा २८ गते मात्र प्रहरीमा जाहेरी गरेको बालिकाकी आमाले जानकारी दिइन्। असार २८ गतेबाट उपचारमा रहेकी बालिकालाई थप रगत आवश्यक भएकाले रगत दिइएको स्वास्थ्यकर्मीले जानकारी दिएका छन्। बालिकाको योनीमा घाउ भएर संक्रमण भएर उपचार भइरहेपनि अवस्था कठिन नभएको स्वास्थ्यकर्मीहरुले बताएका छन्।
