Prisoners of Dadheldura started hunger strike demanding to discard the provision made on New criminal code. They demanded to discard the provision of increasing imprisonment time for amnesty. The New criminal code had made a provision of minimum 50 to 70 percent imprisonment for amnesty. Before the promulgation of New criminal code the provision for amnesty was minimum 40 percent imprisonment.
