Police on Tuesday arrested 22-year-old Birendra Mehta of Koshi rural municipality-7 on the charge of raping a 17-year-old teenager.

Police arrested him on thre basis of a complaint lodged by the victim's family on February 6. The victim's party accused Mehta of repeatedly raping the teenager since August 2018 by threatening her. He reportedly raped her on August 27, 2018 last. The victim underwent medical examination on February 6 after lodging the complaint. Medical examination revealed that she was 6 months old pregnant as a result of the rape. The accused had gone on the run after finding out that a complaint had beeen lodged against him. Police however, arrested him on Tuesday. Police are further investigating on the incident.
