Police on Monday arrested 30-year-old Madan Nepali of Phalebas municipality on the charge of beating and severely injuring his 33-year-old wife Muna Nepali. Madan reportedly hit Muna with wooden log on Sunday night around 9:00PM. Muna had given birth to a baby only in the morning. Muna sustained serious injury on her head in the attack. She was referred to Pokhara after undergoing basic treatment at Disrict hospital Parbat.
The victim reported that her husband attacked her under the influence of alcohol. She received 31 stitches on her head injury during treatment. She lamented that although her husband used to beat her in the past she did not expect him to beat her during postpartum. Police arrested Madan on the basis of an oral complaint lodged by their neighbour.
