Province 1, Sunsari, Inaruwa, Ward 3
Locals protested against the low quality of drain constructed at Inaruwa, Sunsari. Locals allege that the materials used in the construction of the drain near the road from Sakhuwagachi to the main market are of low quality. The locals have stopped the drainage works saying the low-quality materials are being used for construction.
Ramesh Adhikari, a local leader, said they stopped work after they saw plaster peeling off from bricks. Locals have demanded quality of work as per the estimated cost.
They have accused the Ward-3 Chairman Kulram Gurung for being irresponsible even when the work quality was low. Gurung said that he was not a technician and the quality of work can be known only after technical investigation. According to Gurung, the city development division office, Biratnagar has appointed the mayor, administrative officer and engineer in the local level for monitoring the site.
Mayor Rajan Mehta of Inaruwa Municipality said the concerned contractor will be punished if it is found that quality has been compromised in the construction of drainage.
