Leaders and cadres of the student wing of the main opposition Nepali Congress on Friday morning staged a demonstration in Kathmandu demanding justice for Nirmala Pant, who was murdered by unidentified persons after a rape in Kanchanpur district of far-western Nepal exactly one year ago.
To mark the anniversary of the mysterious case, the Nepal Students Union staged the demonstration at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. They showed placards and chanted slogans stressing that the victim should be given justice.
The demonstrators also demanded that Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa resign taking responsibility of the government’s failure to conclude investigations into the case and book the perpetrators.
Just three days ago, the Minister had told journalists that the government was not efficient enough to control such incidents completely.
