Police arrested a 17-year-old boy, on August 5, on the charge of raping a 12-year-old girl. 

The victim's mother filed a complaint at Area Police Office Kanchanrup on July 9 stating that four people gang-raped her daughter on July 3, while she went to graze cattle in the jungle. 

The victim's medical examination was done at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital on July 10. The victim stated in front of the police stating that the four accused raped her. However, the arrested boy denied the allegation. 

According to DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, it took time to arrest the accused because the victim's party filed the complaint late due to pressure to settle the incident within the community.
