22-year-old Rambha Kushuwa has filed a complaint against seven people including six family members of Simraungadh municipality-1. The complaint was lodged on September 6 for alleged physical assault September 3 by her family members. She was assaulted with a hoe by her father-in-law and others on that day. However, that is one of the many incidents where she has become the victim of domestic violence.
Rambha said that she had been assaulted by her husband for the last four years for not bringing dowry and for not having a pretty face. As per Rambha, she was barred from meeting her relatives and was not given food despite making her work all day.
The victim has demanded legal actions as per the criminal code 2017 and criminal code 2010 against 65-year-old father-in-law Dharmadev Mahato, 55-year-old mother-in-law Parvatiya Devi, 35-year-old husband Pradhuman Kushwaha, 25-year-old brother-in-law Lavakushkumar Kushwaha, 45-year-old brother-in-law Ajayakumar Kushwaha, 35-year-old neighbor Bunilal Ram, and 35-year-old brother-in-law Dilbandhu Prasad Kushwaha.
The victim has sustained injuries in the face, back, neck and other parts. She has been undergoing medical treatment at Kalliya Hospital since September 6. Police are further investigating the incident.
