Rapper Samir Ghising, popularly known as VTEN, has been taken into police custody.
He was arrested by a team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) from Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, today.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sahakul Thapa of MPCD, Teku, Ghising was rounded up for the use of obscene lyrics in his popular composition “Hami Yestai ta ho ni Bro”. SSP Thapa further said that the language in the song was so profane that it could not be listened to among family members.
Additionally, the rapper has been accused of posting a photo wearing a police uniform, smoking and using marijuana.
SSP Thapa added that the rapper was arrested on the grounds of spreading a negative social message and portraying a police officer in a derogatory manner.
Action will be taken against the rapper on these charges, stated Thapa.
In a similar case, on October 22, police had arrested singer Durgesh Thapa, charging him with spreading ‘negative message’ in society through his recently released Tihar song called ‘Happy Tihara Chiso Beer.’
