The landslide victims of Mahakali Municipality-9 Dattu, Darchula staged a sit-in at the municipality office demanding relief and compensation. They staged sit-in claiming relief and compensation for nearly 20 families who were in danger due to the landslide that occurred on July 11 after the construction of the road. They demanded that the municipality should provide relief and compensation immediately. They further accused that the landslide was caused due to the negligence of dozer during the road construction.
They demanded immediate relief and compensation, saying the municipality has a major role in bringing man-made landslide by going against the consent of the locals while constructing roads.
Dattu locals have submitted the petition to Deputy Chief Suna Bohara. Bohara assured that they would hold discussions at the executive meeting. There was chaos after the police stopped the locals, who went to submit the petition, outside the main gate of the municipality. Locals chanted slogans against Mayor Hansraj Bhatt saying that they should be allowed to sit inside the municipality office.
