Police today arrested Dr Rohit Kumar Jha, a general physician at Nakkhu-based Mediciti Hospital, on the charge of attempting to rape a 30-year-old patient.
Dr Jha, 37, was arrested from the hospital premises by police officers of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, this evening.
“He was taken into custody for trying to rape his patient who had visited the hospital for a full-body check-up,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Tek Prasad Rai. He was arrested on the basis of first information report filed yesterday by the complainant, who is an engineer.
Dr Jha, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Tamang, allegedly groped her and unzipped the patient’s pants before asking her to lie on bed for medical check-up. “The victim also accused the doctor of forcefully putting his hand inside her panties,” said DSP Tamang.
