Police arrested an auxiliary health worker, accused of raping a woman from Gaur, in Rautahat on Friday night.
The arrested has been identified as Saruattha Health Post In-charge Dr Sudhir Kumar Singh, 45, of Yamunamai Rural Municipality. Police said Dr Singh was accused of raping a woman at the health post. Dr Singh had given lift to a 30-year-old woman of Chitwan on his motorcycle on December 4. The woman was waiting for a bus to leave for Chitwan at Gaur bus park.
Citing the complaint by the victim, DSP Nabin Karki of District Police Office, Rautahat, said Dr Singh had taken the woman to the health post, which lies 15 kilometres away from Gaur and raped her there. Police said the woman had spent the night at the health post after she was raped.
The next day, on December 5, the victim reached Makawanpur and informed about the incident to police with the help of some women activists, said police.
