Former DSP of Nepal Police faces rape charge

2019-12-16

A few days after Nepal Police SSP Saurabh Rana surrendered to police after being accused of rape, a woman in Mahankal rural municipality of Lalitpur district has filed a complaint against a former DSP of the national police organisation.

The 21-year-old lady filed the first information report against the then DSP Raj Kumar Khiuju on Wednesday, according to the Metropolitan Police Range in Lalitpur. Khiuju had resigned from his position around one-and-a-half months ago citing ‘domestic reasons’, but the sources say he quit after the alleged victim approached senior police officials demanding action against him.

She has also filed another complaint against journalist Raju Basnet, accusing him of threatening to settle the case.

The woman says Khiuju, who was stationed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Chapagaun, then raped her inside his office while she was there to acquire a police report. “He abused me taking the advantage of my loneliness,” she has said in her complaint, “When I told him that he had given me injustice, he threatened that he would kill me.”
