Police have arrested 25-year-old Mahendra Yadav of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-1 on June 3 on a charge of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl.

The accused had tried raping the victim on June 2 and the complaint was filed on June 3 at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu.

According to DSP Sunil Malla, the accused has been arrested on the basis of the complaint, and further investigation is carried on.

Police said the victim’s health checkup was conducted on June 3 at the District Hospital,
