Police personnel have shut various shops in the New Road area of Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. The local traders in Kathmandu had voluntarily defied the lockdown and resumed the operation of their shops last week.
Earlier, it was reported that the District Administration Office has also already agreed to not obstruct the shopkeepers from doing business. However, the local police officials in New Road argued that there was not an official order like that from the higher authorities.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers and the security personnel engaged in a clash as the personnel used force to shut the shops.
Naresh Katuwal, the president of National Entrepreneurs Federation of Nepal, an organisation of retailers in Kathmandu, says the police act was condemnable.
