KATHMANDU, June 9: A group of youths including social activists and entrepreneurs staged a demonstration in front of the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday afternoon with various demands.
Chanting slogans against the government, the youths urged the government to scrap the rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for coronavirus questioning its reliability.
Accusing the government of failing to take effective measures to contain the coronavirus, they demanded that the government not spend money for unwarranted purposes, such as purchasing expensive carpets for Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office.
They also demanded that the government expand the scope of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. The police used force to control the demonstrators and quell the protest.
