The family side of 22-year-old Sunila Yadav of Samsi Rural Municipality-7 has lodged a complaint at District Police Office, Mahottari on June 30, alleging that she was beaten to death for not bringing a dowry.
They alleged that Sunila's 31-year-old husband Sanjiv Yadav, and her 60-year-old father-in-law Mahesh Rai Yadav, beat her to death on June 27's night, saying that they were not given a buffalo and a good suit pant at the wedding.
According to locals, when they found the body of Sunila, her clothes were torn, she was bruised with black and blue marks, broken sticks were scattered in the spot.
The five-year-old son of the deceased Sunila has said that his father punched and kicked his mother and did not stop even when she screamed for help.
DSP Prakash Bhattarai of the District Police Office said that the body was sent to Jaleshwor Hospital for a postmortem on June 28 and a necessary investigation is underway.
He informed that it will be easier to understand more after the post-mortem report.
