Lockdown has been imposed for one week in Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet after the COVID-19 cases spiked.
Chief Administrative Officer Tikaram Dhakal informed that the municipality, all ward offices and all the offices under the municipality will be closed from August 14 to August 21.
He said that the decision was taken by the Municipal Corona Prevention and Control Coordinating Committee on Wednesday as the number of infected people was increasing.
Corona infection has been found in many people who have not been out in Birendranagar recently. Another 19 people were infected in Birendranagar on Wednesday morning. Five of them have contracted the disease from the community level,without having any travel history.
