A 35-year-old woman with the disability of Ramgopalpur Municipality-5 of Mahottari was raped by two local youths on July 25. According to the victim, 26-year-old local Jitu Mandal and Khurke Mukhiya raped her in a sugarcane field about 300 meters south of the house. The police recovered the clothes and mobile phones of the accused from the spot but the accused fled away. Though the victim lodged a complaint at the local Area Police office in Ramgopalpur on July 26, the police are unable to arrest the accused because local politicians tried to reconcile the incident with the help of power and money. The inspector at the Area Police Office, Ramgopalpur, Kailash Bhattarai said that the clothes and mobile phones of the accused have handed over to the District Police Office, Mahottari and the complaint has been referred to the District Police Office, Mahottari.
