Youths of Janakpur staged a demonstration at Bhanu Chowk on August 15 against the police administration and demanded strict action against the police involved in the assault on journalist Santosh Yadav and journalist Sivendra Rohita by the police on August 14.

The youths chanted slogans against the accused and protested by carrying placards with slogans such as "Take action against the police for beating journalists, maintain freedom of the press, no hooliganism".

Earlier, the Siraha branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) had issued a statement condemning the assault on journalists and demanding strict action against the culprits.
