Family members of a 17-year-old girl who has been reportedly been raped repeatedly by 52-year-old Ramman Shrestha and 45-year-old Bharatman Shrestha of Dhanushadham Municipality-3 have accused the District Police Dhanusha of refusing to register a complaint they filed against the duo on September 8. According to the family, the duo last raped the victim on August 16.
The victim told the INSEC Dhanusha representative on September 20 that she had lodged a complaint about justice as the duo had repeatedly raped her.
The victim has been hiding the incident as she had threatened to be killed.
Women’s rights activist Gunja Raya told INSEC Dhanusha representative that the police administration and local activists of political parties were trying to reconcile the incident in the village.
She said that the girl was kept in a safe house in Janakpurdham.
According to SP Ramesh Kumar Basnet of the District Police Office, Dhanusha, the girl was examined at the Provincial Hospital, Janakpurdham on September 8.
After receiving information about the incident, an investigation has started, said SP Basnet.
