A Dalit woman from Bhangaha Municipality-9 of Mahottari, who faced rape attempt at the hands of ward secretary of Mithilesh Yadav has reported facing threats after she filed a complaint against him. The victim had filed a complaint against Yadav at the District Police Office, Mahottari accusing him of trying to rape her on October 7.

She is being repeatedly threatened to withdraw the case against Yadav, to compromise with money (first offered with 2 lakhs and upon rejection they even offered her 10 lakhs), land (36540 square feet), death threats to kill her in-laws and regular threats to her mother to stop the victim. The family of Yadav threatened to kill her after Yadav’s release. She expressed that she feels afraid to stay at home alone.
