Locals have started a hunger strike in Gaur-based District Hospital demanding appointment of specialist doctors saying that it is the only district hospital in the district with a population of about 7.5 lakhs. Although there are nine fixed positions for specialist doctors in Rautahat District Hospital, Gaur, only one Dr Krishna Sah is currently providing service. 

A team led by Hemprasad Sah, coordinator of HPS Foundation, were been sitting at the main gate of the hospital since 11 am on Sunday, October 25 to appoint nine specialists as per the fixed positions accusing the local, state and federal governments for not being serious about the health of the people. They announced to continue their strike at the gate of District Hospital Gaur from 11:00 am to 4:00 am every day until the other doctors arrive.
