Chairman of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Methur Chaudhary padlocked the municipality office after the dispute between Mayor Nirsal Sah and Deputy Mayor (DM) Shavanam Mikrani in Malangwa municipality escalated on November 3.
DM padlocked the accounting branch of the municipality on November 2 accusing the mayor for not being transparent but the mayor broke the lock. After this, DM again marched to the municipal office carrying the lock key which escalated the controversy. DM’s demanded mayor to make the Corona expenditure and agriculture irrigation transparent. She alleged that Mayor, along with Administrative Officer Homnath Subedi, acted against the decision of the council by arbitrarily hiring employees, interfering in her role and not paying the salaries of cleaning staffs. Meanwhile, the mayor denied all the allegations.
Slogans, processions and sit-ins were also held by DM at the municipal office premises on November 3.As the situation became tense, a large number of security personnel were mobilized. DCC Chairman said that he locked up the office to end the conflict and would open it only after resolving the issue through discussions between the two sides. Earlier, the two sides held long discussions to resolve the dispute but that did not reach any agreement.
