The villagers in Dhankaul Rural Municipality-4, Mahinathpur in Sarlahi, attacked around a dozen of NEA employees of Barhathwa Distribution Center who had gone there to control electricity theft. After the incident of attack on employees NEA has cut off lights in Mahinathpur area and mentioned to not turn it on until the local people's representatives commits to help control the leakage and prevent attacks on employees in the coming days.
According to the Barhathwa Distribution Center, more than 50 percent of electricity is leaking in Mahinathpur. Electricity theft was also been found in the ward office of Mahinathpur where the ward chairman Chunchun Yadav hooked up the hook to his ward office. He admitted that the ward office was run on stolen electricity.
The Barhathwa Distribution Center has so far removed the hooks in various places and arrested 22 people for stealing electricity with the help of the police and released them after paying fines. Eleven of them are from Mahinathpur. Similarly, electrical appliances including motors, fans and refrigerators were also been recovered.
