Police charged batons at Darchula Checkpoint after the crowd of people going to India to buy goods increased. The DAO, Darchula, on November 8 gave permission for the people who have to work for urgent work, including the students taking the exam, those who need things for death rituals ,to cross the suspension bridge over the Mahakali River at the checkpoint for half an hour that increased the crowd.
According to police, a drunk man came to the crowd saying he was going to India. A minor dispute started and the drunk man was injured. Police stated that they took that action to make sure other people were not harmed in the crowd. DAO-Darchula, however, said that there was crowd because of the road to the suspension bridge was narrow and congested.
