About a thousand locals in Rautahat staged a protest at the district headquarters in Gaur on November 12 to draw the attention of the administration demanding to open of the border with the Indian market Bairgania during festivals. They complained that even though India opened the border, Nepal did not open the border.
They started to protest when the Indian security personnel stopped them from coming through the wrong checkpoints and asked them to come only through the main checkpoint. They wanted to go to the bordering Indian markets to shop for the upcoming Tihar and Chhath festivals
