Demanding the opening of the Nepal-India border, the locals in Kakadvitta have been demonstrating every day since December 10. On the sixth day of the demonstration, a sit-in and rally was held in the presence of hundreds at the border on December 16. The movement is led by Hotel Entrepreneurs Association Mechinagar and Travel Association Jhapa and is also participated by the locals.
Local transport businessmen, hoteliers, travel businessmen and others have been holding programs such as signature collection campaign, peaceful rallies and sit-ins demanding to open the checkpoint.
