Traders staged a sit-in at the Biratnagar Metropolitan City office demanding the reopening of the weekly market that had been closed since the first week of April because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The small business operators demanded the market be opened immediately. They stated that the big market was allowed to open. The metropolitan office called the agitating leaders on January 5 for discussion.
