A young girl from Jorpati was seriously injured after being raped and beaten by her step-father on January 26. After the rape and beating, the step-father fled to Janakpur thinking that the girl was dead. She was kept in the ICU at the National Trauma Center for 13 days, and as per her mother, her health condition is slowly improving.

According to the police, the step-father brutally beat the girl with the intention of killing her after she resisted after he sexually attacked her.  The victim sustained serious head injuries and lost five teeth from the beatings. Police have arrested the accused from Janakpur on January 27. He is currently in the custody of the Metropolitan Police Division, Boudha.
