Locals staged a protest at the Police Office on February 27 demanding arrest and action against those involved in the murder of a 6-month-old girl in Kawasoti Municipality-4 in Nawalparasi East. According to police, the suspects were taken into custody after the girl's mother lodged a complaint alleging that the six-month-old girl was killed by her own family. However, locals protested alleging the police of showing indifference in investigating the incident and also demanded an impartial investigation into the incident.

Although the incident took place on February 25, it was reported the next day. The girl's mother has alleged that the child was poisoned to death by her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
