Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who had come to settle the dispute over the construction of towers for power transmission, was chased away by locals in Maruwa, Katari Municipality-4 of Udayapur. Locals even chanted slogans against the minister. As soon as the minister reached the village, the locals demanded that the tower of the corridor should not be constructed through the village and the route should be changed to take it from the forest.
Locals of Katari-4 Maruwa did not allow the construction of nine towers in the village. A 90 km long transmission line is being constructed from Mirchaiya in Siraha to Tingla in Solukhumbu. The project has stated that 95 per cent of the work has been completed. Out of the total 90 km transmission line, the work of laying a double circuit line (wire) in 45 km has been completed.
