Volunteer teachers in Baitadi padlocked seven wards of Sigas rural municipality (out of nine wards) on April 15 over non-payment their salaries since August. According to the Volunteer Teachers' Struggle Committee, ward offices other than wards 2 and 5 were padlocked.
The rural municipality had amended the Rural Municipality Volunteer Teacher Working Procedure 2018 and reduced the grant and handed it over to the school management committee.
