Locals padlock the municipality office in Nawalparasi East over poor healthcare management

Locals padlocked two offices of the mayor, Purna Kumar Shrestha, and deputy mayor, Parvata Tiwari, of Devachuli Municipality on May 4 accusing them of not paying attention to the healthcare management amid Corona. They allege the municipality of not fulfilling its managerial responsibility for the death of a Corona-infected person in Ward No. 13 on May 3. According to the locals, the victim died due to the lack of treatment.

Local leader Shyam Sharma Bhusal said they will not open the lock until the municipality ensures assistance in the treatment of corona infections.

A 68-year-old man of Devachuli-13 died due to corona on May 3, He was diagnosed with a corona at Star Hospital in Kathmandu on April 30. He was in home isolation but after facing difficulties in breathing,  the relatives called the ambulance that did not arrive on time. He died while being taken to the hospital by his relatives on a tractor.
