A complaint was filed against 32-year-old Santosh Kumar Mehta of Harinagar Rural Municipality-5, Basantapur on the charge of raping a 19-year-old girl. The victim was repeatedly raped for over a year and the last time she was raped was on May 27, 2021.

According to police, the complaint was filed on May 30 at the District Police Office, Sunsari and the accused had absconded immediately after the complaint was filed. A health checkup of the victim was conducted on May 27 at Inaruwa Hospital.
